Probably one of the most emblematic armchairs in furniture design of the 20th century, the Eero Aarnio inspired Ball chair is a cult chair integrated into popular culture and the collective unconscious. The Ball chair or Adelta Globe chair has been featured on the big screen in films such as James Bond and Men in Black. The Eero Aarnio Ball lounge chair was originally produced by Adelta and this high quality version is offered by Diiiz.
For its design, Eero Aarnio was inspired by a balloon, although it is sometimes called the ‘Globe Chair’. A revolutionary idea at the time, both in form and in the materials used: this reproduction of the Eero Aarnio Ball chair is made of a white, reinforced fibreglass shell, which contrasts with its coloured cashmere interior. The interior lining of the Adelta Ball chair by Diiiz is available in several bright colours to best suit your interior design and tastes. The shell is available in black or white. This Adelta Ball lounge chair is available at excellent value from Diiiz.

A designer as well as a photographer and graphic designer, Eero Aarnio created his own design agency in 1962 at only 30 years old. In the beginning, Eero Aarnio worked mainly with natural and artisanal materials. However, he quickly preferred to use more modern and technological materials, such as plastic.
Created in 1963 by the Finnish designer Eero Aarnio, the Ball chair became a revolution in furniture. Halfway between a piece of furniture and an architectural object, ‘the Ball Chair’ or Adelta Ball Chair was an icon of pop culture in the 1960s.
Eero Aarnio literally ‘lived’ the Ball chair before creating it. According to him, it had to fulfil a need and that’s what he created. In 1962, he noticed that there were no large comfortable armchairs that could furnish his apartment. Through his research and designs, the Finnish designer focused on a hollow sphere whose width did not exceed that of a door. Eero Aarnio was committed to designing a prototype for himself. Then the large companies spotted the artistic potential of the Eero Arnio Ball chair, offering it a privileged place in furniture design!
